Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation issued the following announcement on Mar 6.
As a district, we monitor the health and safety of our staff and students every school day. We are currently following normal operating procedures and continue to monitor and prepare for potential illnesses that may compromise the health of our staff and students.
During the heightened awareness of the Coronavirus-COVID-19, we are working to address community preparedness with the Bartholomew County Health Department, Columbus Regional Health, City of Columbus Mayor’s Office, Bartholomew County EMS and major employers in Bartholomew County.
In the event of a public health concern in our district, the school nurses and leadership team will work with our school physician and local and state health officials to monitor the situation, notify parents, and implement measures to ensure the health and safety of staff and students.
For our staff and students, we ask for support and shared responsibility by continuing to follow our proactive guidelines:
- Stay home when sick.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then dispose of the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.
