Indiana University-East issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
The IU East women's volleyball could not overcome a sluggish start and fell in four sets on the road to Brescia University on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Final score from Brescia University: 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, and 18-25.
IU East falls to 14-10 overall and is now 9-3 in the RSC East Division. With the win, Brescia improves to 5-15 overall and 5-8 in the RSC West Division.
The Red Wolves, in the midst of a three match conference road trip, met a Brescia team that played great defense throughout the match and played with a purpose today to spring an upset. "We came out flat, unmotivated, and not ready to win today", said IU East coach Kim McConaha. "All our problems can be solved in practice and get us prepared for Rio Grande on Wednesday."
The Red Wolves salvaged a second set win and were looking to turn the momentum in their direction, but Brescia won the important third set which went to extra points and sprung the hosts to an easy fourth and decisive set.
"Today's game was a tough loss," said Jenna Mitchell. "Brescia put up a great game against us, but we didn't execute the game plan consistently the we should have."
The Red Wolves will end their road trip when they travel to the University of Rio Grande on Wednesday, Oct. 27 for a first serve at 6 p.m.
