Indiana University-East issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

The Indiana University East men's basketball team played Homecoming spoiler at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Nov. 12.

The Red Wolves sent a big MVNU Homecoming crowd at Ariel Arena home disappointed by toughing out a 67-63 win against the previously unbeaten Cougars.

IU East (2-3) got 19 points from Dionte Raines, the last two of those points coming on a determined drive down the left side that put the Red Wolves ahead 66-61 with 22 seconds remaining.

Garrett Silcott added 13 points, none more important than his basket while drawing a foul to put IU East ahead 64-61 with 1:11 to go.

Justin Williams swished what turned out to be the go-ahead basket from the right wing with just under three minutes remaining to push the Red Wolves into the lead at 62-60.

IU East closed its first true road game of the season with a 10-3 run after MVNU had rallied to take a 60-57 lead with four minutes remaining.

"I would say our defense down the stretch is what allowed us to keep the lead late in the game," Raines said. "We also made the right plays and hit big shots when we needed them most. Great team win!"

Kade Ruegsegger scored 21 for Mount Vernon Nazarene.

IU East visits No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan University on Nov. 16. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. in Marion.
