3

Indiana University-East issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.

Justin Williams sank a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to lift the Indiana University East men's basketball team to a 66-64 win at Ohio Valley University on Nov. 20 in the River States Conference opener for both teams.

Williams' shot capped a frantic final 40 seconds in which the lead changed hands four times.

IU East is now 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the RSC. Ohio Valley, which was playing its first-ever RSC game, is 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Ohio Valley's Vukasin Garic started the action-packed final 40 seconds with a free throw to put the Fighting Scots ahead 62-61. Garrett Silcott answered on the other end with a tough drive and score to give IU East a 63-62 advantage. Seconds later, Nick Hargrove scored from close in on the left side to make the score 64-63 in favor of Ohio Valley.

Williams' triple from the left wing gave the Red Wolves the final advantage. IU East survived one last Ohio Valley attempt to tie.

"Hitting the last shot of the game, it's just endless reps and staying ready at all times," Williams said.

Williams finished with a team-high 15 points. Silcott added 14. Gabe McNary scored a college-high 13 points and collected seven rebounds.

IU East led by 19 points in the first half before weathering the late Ohio Valley rally.

"Our defense led to offense early, and our ball movement early on is what led to us getting easy looks all over the court," Williams said.

IU East continues east to Takoma Park, Md., for a game at Washington Adventist University on Nov. 22.
