4

Huntington University issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.

Not much went right for the Forester women's basketball team on opening day of league play as evidenced by suffering an 81-39 loss to Taylor Saturday afternoon at Platt Arena.

The Trojans (5-4, 1-0) jumped out to a double-digit lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back. It was a 47-19 game by intermission with HU's only bright spot coming in the third stanza when they cut into Taylor's lead by eight within the first four minutes.

Emily Seboe spearheaded the surge by scoring eight of her team-best 16 points. The 5-11 sophomore also corralled a team-high seven boards on the afternoon.

Taylor's bread and butter is their long-range shooting with today proving no different. Six different Trojans canned at least one from beyond the arc with Lauren James leading the way by going 5-for-7 from deep. The senior guard finished with 17 points. As a team, TU racked up 13 threes to HU's two.

When the visitors weren't throwing in threes, they were dumping it down low to 6-1 Taylor Westgate or 6-4 Gretchen Moll who poured in 18 and 14 points respectively. Kayla Kirtley rounded out the Trojans double-digit scoring with 11 points.

Huntington (2-5, 0-1) will look to regroup by Tuesday when the face-off against Bethel at 5:30 p.m.
