Indiana University-East recently issued the following announcement.
A shorthanded Indiana University East men's basketball team dropped a 95-89 decision against Ave Maria University on Nov. 27 in the Red Wolves' first game at "The Show."
The Red Wolves (4-5) lost for just the second time in five appearances at "The Show," an annual post-Thanksgiving event at MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center.
Ave Maria is 7-2.
Dionte Raines scored an IU East career-best 25 points for IU East, which was without the services of its top two scorers for all but a few seconds of the game.
The back-and-forth contest included 13 lead changes. IU East sank a season-high 15 shots from 3-point range to stay in the game despite Ave Maria advantages in most other areas.
Colt Meyer (15 points), Bryce Long (13 points) Nate Soltis (13 points) and Jamisen Smith (11 points) all stepped up with season-bests in scoring for IU East.
Eric Klekas scored 36 for Ave Maria. Klekas' total included a layup after a scramble for a loose ball followed by a midrange jumper on the next possession to put the Gyrenes ahead by five points with three minutes remaining and force IU East to play from behind in the final moments.
IU East concludes its stay at "The Show" with a matchup against Freed-Hardeman University on Nov. 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
