Indiana University-East issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.
The Indiana University East track and field programs competed indoors for the first time in nearly two years as the Red Wolves participated in the Indiana Institute of Technology 'Strive for Greatness' Invitational on Friday, Dec. 10.
Danielle Ruhl set a school record in the weight throw with a distance of 11.05 meters.
After each event this season, the coaching staff is selecting an "Alpha Wolf of the Meet" for the men's and women's squads with Ruhl and Tristan Thomas being honored for their efforts at the Turnstone Center on Friday. Thomas competed in the 60-meter dash, 200 and the long jump.
IU East picked up three wins in heat races as India Benton won heats in the 200 and 400 meters, while Matthew Fox posted his victory in a 200 heat.
Benton finished 10th overall in 400 with a time of 1:02.10 as she ran the eighth fastest race in school history.
The Red Wolves return to action at the Wabash College Little Giant Invitational on Friday, Jan. 14.
