Indiana University-East issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

Kennedy Griffin matched her career-high point total with 26 as the the Indiana University East women's basketball team defeated St. Thomas University 81-78 at the Keiser University Invitational on Dec. 18.

IU East is now 11-3 overall as the Bobcats fall to 7-7.

"I thought we came ready to play from the start," said Griffin, who scored 26 earlier this season against Grace College.

The Red Wolves led 23-19 after the first period, but St. Thomas used a 10-3 run late in the second quarter to build a 42-35 advantage by halftime. The Red Wolves bounced back by the end of the third to lead 58-55.

"We worked hard the whole game," Griffin said. "We let them go on a little run, but we refocused and played our game. We did a good job of moving the ball on offense and we met our goals for the game."

Tia Tolbert finished with 12 points and four steals for the Red Wolves, while Addie Brown added 11 points with a team-high seven assists.

Taylor Browning topped IU East with 11 rebounds to go with nine points. Kami McEldowney also had nine points.

"I want to thank all those that have donated over the years to make this trip happen with a personal shout out to Debbie Rudd as she has been our champion supporter from the start," IU East coach Tiffany Selhorst said. "We have been able to give kids experiences they've never had."

"I am really proud of the girls for this win," Selhorst continued. "We started out strong which was a good push for us, but struggled in the second quarter. Part of becoming a resilent team is being able to bounce back in the third quarter. We are growing up, which is going to make us a nightmare for opponents for the rest of the year. We will enjoy this win and get back at it."

IU East finishes the Keiser University Invitational against the host Seahawks on Sunday, Dec. 19. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
