Indiana University-East recently issued the following announcement.
Ella Bickel, a 5-5 senior at Heritage High School (Ind.), has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Indiana University East starting with the 2022-23 school year.
Red Wolves coach Kim McConaha announced the signing Jan. 4.
"Ella brings tremendous athleticism and work ethic to the gym," said IU East assistant coach Justin Kean. "On her visit, she fit right in with the culture we are building."
Bickel helped Heritage to a 26-6 record this past fall. She is an all-conference and academic all-state honoree who finished her high school volleyball years with 1,015 career digs and 209 career aces.
Ella is the daughter of Jon and Angie Bickel. She is a three-sport athlete and an honor roll student.
"I chose IU East because I loved the atmosphere in the gym, and the team and coaches made me feel at home," Bickel wrote.
Bickel is part of the early wave of signees in IU East's 2022 volleyball recruiting class.
IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves finished the 2021 fall schedule with the program's 11th 20-win season and fourth RSC East Division title in the last five years.
