City of Columbus recently issued the following announcement.
Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services invites community members who are wanting to get their cat or dog spayed or neutered to sign up for their clinic transport service. This service will transport pets to and from Columbus to the Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinics located in the Indianapolis Metro area. This service runs one to two times per month. Pets are transported in the morning and returned home that evening. Prices range from $40-$45 for cats to $50-$90 for dogs. A rabies vaccination is required and can be administered at the time of the surgery for additional cost. Other services including vaccinations and microchipping are also available.
“If more community pets were spayed and neutered, it would cut down on the number of unwanted pets that are filling both county shelters,” said Nicohl Birdwell Goodin, Animal Care Services General Manager. “Spaying and neutering can also extend the life of your pets and protect them from future health issues such as cancer or infections of the reproductive organs. “
To sign up for this service, please visit the Animal Care Services website at https://www.columbus.in.gov/animal-care-services/spay-and-neuter-clinic/ .
Once you complete and send the application, a volunteer will contact you as soon as spaces are available.
