Vanessa Temple of Monroe (Ohio) High School has signed a letter of intent to play women's soccer at Indiana University East starting with the 2022 season.
Red Wolves coach Shane Meridith made the announcement on July 1.
"Vanessa Temple is one of the fiercest and selfless players I have ever coached," said Stacey Williams, who is the head coach at Monroe High School. "Her energy and determination on the field are contagious."
"Vanessa Temple is a player who would run through a brick wall for her teammates," Williams continued. "She is competitive and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team succeed on and off the field."
Temple was All-Southwestern Buckeye League Second Team performer for the Hornets. She served as the team captain for soccer as well as track and field. She received the Jesse Mayab Award and was the Vice-President of the Student Council along with being a member of the National Honor Society.
Vanessa is the daughter of Cynthia and William Temple with plans of majoring in Exercise Science.
"Perfect fit with a smaller campus and the team was great," Temple said of her decision to play at IU East. "It's close to home too."
Temple is another member of the 2022 IU East women's soccer recruiting class to be announced this spring.
IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves have won the River States Conference Tournament twice and as a result reached the NAIA National Championships in 2019 and 2020-21.
