Cross Country Travels to Terre Haute for Nike Twilight

The cross country teams traveled to the annual Nike Twilight meet at Terre Haute Saturday evening.  Cool temperatures and a dry course made for fast times for the majority of the field under the lights Saturday evening.  The night started with Megan Cumberledge and Sadie Hiatt running in the girls open race.  Cumberlege finished 78th in 22:28 and Sadie Hiatt was 102nd in 23:05.  In the boys open featured 13 of the Eagles.  

The boys finished 9th overall in the competitive field.  Cord Smith was the first across the line for the team, finishing 43rd in 17:32.  Case Smith came across in 54th, clocking a 17:43.  Charlie Webb came close to breaking into the 17’s with an 18:05. Rafe Silbaugh was the next finisher for the Eagles as he came across in 18:15.  Clay Austin rounded out the top 5 for the team running 18:21.  Other Eagle finishers are listed below. Both Hadley Gradolf and Chase Austin competed in the championship races at the end of the evening.  Gradolf placed 72nd in the competitive field in a time of 19:22.  Chase Austin used a strong second-half surge to move up in the field in place 53rd in 15:51. 

The Eagles now prepare for sectional competition this Saturday out at Eagle Park.
