Shelby O'Leary's hat-trick paced the Indiana University East women's soccer team as the Red Wolves defeated Carlow University 4-0 on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Red Wolves are now 3-4-5 overall and 2-1-1 in the River States Conference, while the Celtics fall to 4-5, 0-3.
"We played 90 minutes of quality soccer," IU East coach Shane Meridith said. "We need to show a bit more urgency in the box, but I think we are starting to hit our stride."
After a scoreless opening period, O'Leary found the back of the net three times in a little over six minutes early in the second half as the Red Wolve took control at Highmark Stadium.
O'Leary's three goals tied the IU East record for a match. It was the sixth time a Red Wolf has scored three goals in a contest and the second time for O'Leary, who has eight goals this season and 16 in her career.
Ava Wittrock, Vanessa Temple and Morgan Grudich each assisted on O'Leary's goals.
Kylie Bunker added the final tally for IU East at 74:48 as she scored for the first time for the Red Wolves.
Goalkeepers Mary Brewington and Olivia Hence each had a save for the Red Wolves.
