Ball State Claims One Point at Kent State

The Ball State soccer team returned to action for a Thursday night contest on the road at Kent State. The Cardinals and Golden Flashes battled to a 0-0 draw.

With the draw, Ball State is 6-4-6 overall and 5-1-3 in MAC contests, while Kent State has an overall record of 4-6-6 and is 4-1-4 in the conference.

"Tough game today," said Head Coach Josh Rife. "There's a reason Kent State is where they're at in the standings. Proud of the way our ladies battled. We had the goal of no set piece goals today and they had to answer that call multiple times throughout the match and stood up to the challenge. Excited that we still have everything to play for."

The opening half was a tough one for the Cardinals as BSU recorded three shots, none of which were on goal. Bethany Moser was perfect in the first half with four saves on the four shots on goal by the Golden Flashes.

In the 55th minute, Kent State had one of its better chances to score, but Jordyn Jeffers came up with a huge team save.

Lexi Fraley ripped a shot on goal from inside the box, but the Golden Flashes' keeper made a sprawling save. Maria Broering collected the rebound, but her shot went just over the crossbar. This was the Cardinals' best chance of the match.

Ball State finished the match with five shots, one on goal. Moser recorded four saves for the contest.

The Cardinals return to the friendly confines of the Briner Sports Complex for the final regular season home contest. Ball State is set to battle the current No. 1 seed Buffalo on Sunday, Oct. 23, with first touch slated for 1 p.m.
