NOTES TO KNOW
• The Boilermakers have won their last 42 exhibition contests
• Head coach Katie Gearlds enters her second season at her alma mater, following a 17-15 mark in 2021-22. Purdue won 10 more games in Gearlds' first campaign, setting the mark for best improvement by a first-year head coach at Purdue.
• The Boilermakers added guard Lasha Petree and forward Caitlyn Harper from the transfer portal during the offseason. Petree enters the season with 1,655 points scored over three years at Bradley and one at Rutgers. Harper joined Purdue after spending four seasons at Cal Baptist, where she was named the 2022 WAC Player of the Year.
• The Boilermakers smashed the single-season 3-point record last year with 239 triples, led by Cassidy Hardin's career-high 78.
• Senior Jeanae Terry became the first Boilermaker on the men's or women's side to record multiple triple-doubles in a career, accomplishing the feat twice. The Detroit native also went 2-for-3 on game-winning shots last year.
• All five starters are back for the Boilermakers, as the squad returns 76.1% of points scored from a season ago.
• Madison Layden was one of six players to hit 45 3-pointers, dish out 65 assists and record 45 steals in each of the last two seasons.
• Purdue's defense posted the best opponent 3-point percentage last year at 27.6%. The defense allowed 67.3 points per game, down from 73.5 the year prior.
• Fifth-year senior Cassidy Hardin deferred her start to medical school to return for a final campaign in West Lafayette. She will become just the third Boilermaker in history to play in five different seasons.
• Joining Layden and Terry with All-Big Ten honorable mention, guard Abbey Ellis notched the 10th best free throw percentage in program history with an 85.4% mark last year.
