Men’s Soccer Advance Past Patriots in Penalties

The Indiana Tech men's soccer team took on the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots in the opening round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Thursday night, November 17, in the second game of the Dalton, Georgia, bracket. This is the fifth meeting between the Warriors and the Patriots, with an even split two wins apiece in the previous four.

It took a penalty shootout to determine the winner after 110 minutes played; the game was tied 0-0. The Warriors shot second in the shootout and won 3-1 after the Patriots missed three penalties. Lucca Motta, Luke Jones, and David Ambaek all scored from the spot in the shootout to help Tech advance to the next round. Jaume Salvado made four saves in the game to earn the shutout and force a shootout.

Tech advances to take on the host of the Dalton Bracket, Dalton State, in the second round on November 19; kickoff is set for 6:00 PM with a chance to go to the final site on the line.
