Wildcats Use Big Second Half to Defeat Red Wolves | Indiana University-East
The IU East men's basketball team held a 1-point advantage over No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan at the halftime break, as the Red Wolves were looking for an upset.
But the Wildcats outscored the Red Wolves 58-44 in the second and defeated IUE 92-79.
Colt Meyer scored a team-high 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Fellow starter Jake Johnson added 12 points, two steals and two assists. Raedhyn Foust came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Red Wolves shot 50.8 percent from the field in the loss and went 10-of-20 from beyond the arc.
Johnson hit his first triple of the game with 18:07 left in the first to give the Red Wolves their first lead of the contest. He hit another trey with 10:12 remaining to give the Red Wolves the lead for the rest of the half at 23-22. The Wildcats ended the first half on a 8-2 run to trim their deficit to one.
The Red Wolves kept the lead until the Wildcats scored off a layup with 19:14 to play. They would keep the lead the rest of the way.
IUE will be back on Lingle Court Dec. 30 against Bethel College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
