Warriors Roll Past Racers

The Indiana Tech women's basketball team took the floor for the first time in the new year in Lima, Ohio, as they took on the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers on Wednesday night. Tech came away with a 77-42 victory to improve their record to 13-3 and 7-1 within the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

After starting the game on the wrong end of a 5-0 run, the Warriors went on a 7-2 run of their own to knot the game at 7 with 5:03 left in the first quarter. The Warriors went into the first break down 16-12 but outscored the Racers 21-9 in the second quarter to take a lead of 33-25 into the halftime break. Tech scored 44 in the second half to the Racers' 17 to win 77-42.

Juliana Burris led the Orange and Black with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Erika Foy recorded another double-double with 15 points, a team-high 10 rebounds, and 1 assist. Kyra Whitaker put up 10 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists. Korryn Smith and Genevieve Decker were sparks off the bench for Tech as Smith scored 11 points and grabbed 3 boards while Decker posted 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.

The Warriors return to the Schaefer Center on Saturday, January 7, to take on Concordia University starting at 1:00 PM. Tech won last time out against the Cardinals with an 87-56 final score.
