The IU East men's basketball team shot 53 percent from the floor and made 14 3-pointers to rout Carlow University 102-58.
Jake Johnson led the team with 17 points. He went 6-of-12 from the floor with eight rebounds. Kobe Ward added 14 points. Tobey Billups had 10 assists to go with his 12 points for a double-double. Jamisen Smith also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. JD Davis was the last Red Wolf in double figures with 11 points, not missing a field goal in the contest.
In the first four minutes, the game was close as both teams traded buckets. Carlow held leads of 2-0 and 4-3. Leading 8-6 at the 16:47 mark, the Red Wolve went on a huge 23-4 run to deflate any early momentum the Celtics had. IU East made four triples in that run, three coming from Billups.
Tavian Tatum's dunk with 2:06 to play was the last field goal in the half as the Red Wolves led 44-25 at the break.
The Red Wolves started the half off well scoring 13 of the first 15 points in the half to grow their lead to 30. IU East went on more runs in the game of 11-0, 11-4, and 11-2.
IU East forced 23 turnovers and outrebounded the Celtics 48-30.
The Red Wolves will take on Point Park on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Lingle Court.
