After a record-tying performance on floor last Friday, Ball State junior Suki Pfister has been named the Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week.

A two-time award winner last season for her effort on vault, Pfister turned in a pair of beautiful routines to help the Cardinals earn a program record team score of 196.550 at last Friday's Tennessee Collegiate Classic.

In fact, she tied a program record of her own, registering a career-best 9.950 in just her third collegiate floor competition to win the event. It is also the best floor score in the league so far this season and ties as the sixth-best nationally.

The top vaulter in the MAC, Pfister also landed a 9.900 to win the event and help the Cardinals break the team vault record with a score of 49.250 at the Farm Bureau Expo Center. Thanks in part to her effort, the Cardinals scored head-to-head wins over Fisk, Kent State, Lindenwood, and Southeast Missouri.

Pfister was not done there, however, as she registered a 9.850 on floor and a 9.800 on vault to help the Cardinals top Eastern Michigan in MAC dual action last Sunday.

Overall, Pfister enters the week ranked 32nd nationally with an average vault score of 9.869, while her floor average of 9.869 is tied for 58th in the country. The averages also rank first and second, respectively, among MAC student-athletes.

The Ball State gymnastics team returns to action Sunday when it hosts Fisk, Pittsburgh, and Southeast Missouri for Squishmallow Day in Worthen Arena. Join us for fun, games, and Squishmallow prizes thrown out for high scores starting at 1 p.m.
