Washington, D.C. - Congressman Greg Pence of Indiana, along with Congressman Larry Bucshon and other members of the Republican Indiana delegation, have sent a letter to the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), expressing their concerns about the proposed power plant rule known as the "Clean Power Plan 2.0."

In the letter, Congressman Pence emphasized the importance of a reliable and affordable electric grid for the people of Indiana. He stated, "The electric grid is critical to life in Indiana. It keeps the lights on, provides us with communication services, heats our homes in the winter, powers life-saving medical equipment, allows us to store food in the refrigerator, and much more." He further highlighted the potential negative impact of the EPA's proposed rule on the electric grid, stating that it could weaken Indiana's electric grid and increase energy costs for ratepayers.

Congressman Pence also highlighted the concerns raised by Hoosier businesses, grid operators, and constituents regarding the potential consequences of this rule. He emphasized that the Biden administration's rush-to-green energy policies could further strain the electric grid, which is already showing signs of failure.

In his statement, Congressman Pence expressed his opposition to the EPA's proposed rule, stating, "It is unacceptable that President Biden's EPA wants to implement a rule that will result in the American people paying more for an even less reliable grid." He further called the proposed rule "expensive and unrealistic" and emphasized that he will not allow the Biden administration to force such regulations onto his constituents.

Congressman Bucshon echoed these concerns, stating that the proposed rule poses a significant threat to the affordability of power for Hoosiers. He expressed his worry that the rule's unrealistic timelines and costly mandates could jeopardize Indiana's grid reliability and lead to rapidly rising energy prices for families in the state.

Both Congressman Pence and Congressman Bucshon called for the reversal of the proposed rule, emphasizing the need for Indiana's state authorities to have the freedom to pursue environmental sustainability while also promoting economic growth.
