Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (R-IN) recently participated in a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Hearing on the Department of Energy (DOE) budget for fiscal year 2025. During the hearing, Congressman Pence raised concerns about the implementation timeline for electric vehicles (EVs) set by the Biden administration.

In the session, Congressman Pence directed his concerns towards DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm, highlighting issues of problems and unreliability stemming from the rushed rollout of the EV timeline. He also brought attention to insights gathered from district roundtables involving various stakeholders such as innovators, industry leaders, researchers, utilities, and charging station developers.

"Why can’t we be a little more cautious and take our time on rolling this out?...Why can’t the administration just take a little bit of a timeout and reassess what’s happening out in the field, that my constituents tell me about?" expressed Congressman Pence during the hearing.

The congressman's remarks reflect a growing sentiment among some policymakers regarding the pace and execution of EV initiatives. A video recording of Congressman Pence's statements during the hearing can be accessed for further context.

This interaction underscores the ongoing dialogue and differing perspectives within the government regarding the implementation of key environmental and energy policies.
