Washington D.C. – U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (R-IN) participated in a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Hearing to address concerns regarding the Biden administration’s rush-to-green building policies. During the hearing, he highlighted issues related to home charging stations, such as strained power grids and reports of homeowners losing insurance.
Congressman Pence, who has built his career in the petroleum industry, brings firsthand experience in energy distribution to these discussions. He frequently conducts roundtables in Indiana's Sixth District with various stakeholders including utilities distributors, researchers, parking mobility experts, and charging station developers to discuss the implementation of the administration’s timelines and identify potential problems.
“I had a local utility say, ‘If somebody else puts another EV in this neighborhood, everybody's power is going down,’” Congressman Pence stated. “…I know of these big boxes where they're putting them on the interstate and where there's not enough energy coming to that location to actually do. So, these mandates for building codes make no sense because we don't have the ability to get the energy there.”
